APPALACHIAN DANCERS

WHAT IS APPALACHIAN DANCE?

Appalachian Dancing has evolved from a mixture of dance styles taken to the Appalachian Mountains of North America by the Irish and Scottish settlers of the 19th century. It is danced to the Old-Time tunes that came with them from the Celtic homelands and has been greatly influenced by the African and Native American rhythms they found in the New World. This exciting mixture of traditions provides the basis for the exhilarating percussive nature of Appalachian Dance today.

RAISE THE DUST come from Shropshire and Mid-Wales and combine many years of dancing experience with dynamic musicianship and powerful singing and give stunning performances that are big on energy, expertise and excitement.

Classy, original choreography inspired by authentic Old-Time music guarantees Raise the Dust will kick up a storm, whatever the occasion.
