Welsh Borders Pubs & Cafes

Some of the pubs, hostelries, cafes and restaurants we have visited...

(Grid Reference, and sometimes phone number, in brackets)

Ironbridge, Shropshire
Cherry's Real Food Cafe
in The Green Wood Centre (in Station Road, Coalbrookdale. polly@cherryeventmanagement.co.uk) – just minutes from the famous ironbridge.

Maesbury Marsh near Oswestry, Shropshire
The Navigation Inn
(SJ 314 250; 01691 672958) – lovely pub with great food and real-ales beside the Shropshire Union Canal.

Yorton Shropshire
The Railway Inn (SJ 515 239; 01939 220240) – old-fashioned pub with beautifully kept real-ales. Try the Wood's Shropshire Lad ale. No meals but will do sandwiches

Eardisley Herefordshire
The New Strand
cafe at the New Inn pub (SO 310 497) – cafe, pub, 2nd-hand book shop and Post Office all in one building. Closed Tuesdays?

Much Marcle Herefordshire
The Scrumpy House cafe at Weston's Cider mill (SO 650 331) – good place to eat. While in Much Marcle it is worth buying other local cider and perry (Greg's Pit & Lyne Down) from the village shop at the A449 crossroads.

Pembridge Herefordshire
Dunkerton's Cider Mill (SO 395 565) 1 mile along lane to Luntley – lovely home-made chocolates and ice cream as well as cider and perry from one of the longest established real cider makers in England.

Weobley Herefordshire
Jules cafe in main street (SO 401 516) – great cafe/restaurant run by a former cyclist.

Almeley Herefordshire
The Bells Inn (SO 333 516; 01544 327216) – cosy little country pub (open every day including Mondays).

Malvern
The Malvern Hills Kiosk (SO 763 404) on the A449/B4232 junction by Herefordshire Beacon – excellent local ice creams from this roadside kiosk. Try the damson and sloe gin!
